Undergraduate Courses Needed To Get Into Business School?
I was wondering what undergraduate courses can be used to get into business school? The reason I ask, is because you can use a business degree to get into law school, and was wondering if a pre-law degree can get you into business school? Another thing, would a pre-med degree allow you to get into a business school? Just wondering how strict business schools are post-undergraduate.

Business, law and med schools don't care what you majored in as an undergraduate. You can major in business, or music, or English, and get into business school, or law school, or med school. Your major doesn't matter. Likewise, you don't have to officially be pre-law to get into law school, or pre-med to get into med school. For med school, what's important is that you complete all the med school pre-req courses (bio, chem, organic, etc.), not what you major in. For business school, most MBA programs want you to have had at least one class in accounting, and one in statistics. Some want calculus. Otherwise, the requirements are pretty flexible re: coursework.

As long as you seriously intend to start your own business it's a good degree. Otherwise you're better off with another degree that will provide specific skills that employers want.

Maybe not directly, but the courses would teach you about business and probably give you the knowledge to put together a good business proposal, which is really what you need for a business loan.

Then look at their website for minimum requirements. Many schools require that you take 3-4 years of math and science in high school for basic admission, no matter what you plan on majoring in.

I am in the US so I don't know the colleges, but check out the alumni network and how much they are involved in the college. That's key in a business school. I graduated from Columbia Business School, and the alumni network is one of the most valuable aspects of the experience. See if you can speak with alumni before you make up your mind.

That is a very good question. I think the main courses that you would need to take is communcations. That way you are better at talking with people and communicating more effectively with people. Business Management courses also are good to take Other than that I don't really know what you would be doing so I can't really point out anything else right now. Try to make a list of what you do on the job, talk with people, take inventory, and etc. Then figure out which ones there are actually courses for and then figure out which one's you need to take a course in. The best experience in to run a business, is on the job experieince so that should be your first source of learning how to run the business. Ask if you can learn how to run the business. Also if you ever need help do not be afraid to ask for help. Hope this helps

A bachelor degree is very important. You can take some business courses/accounting, marketing and management, some entreprenuership courses. It is also very important that you gain some professional experience in the area that you want your business either by internship or a job. Good luck!

For teaching English, and for this I am assuming that you mean that you want to teach English as a Second Language. All you need is a Bachelor's Degree in pretty much anything, and to be fluent in English. There are a whole bunch of firms that will help you do do this pretty much anywhere in the world that you want. If you just google ESL teaching firms, you will find a whole bunch of different groups. If you want to teach Buisiness, then you will probably have to have at least a Master's degree in buisiness or something related to buisiness, and then you just have to look for openings that you are qualified for in various institutions all over the world. The same thing would apply if you wanted to teach English literature.
2
A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

for online. I think Phoenix is the best...go check them out. But it is costly though. Keep that in mind, all online University is expensive and student loan is that last thing you wanna get, unless there is really no other options. GL :)

It really depends on what you are looking for in terms of what you want to get out of your MBA. You will want to see how flexible they are, how good they are in terms of technology and socializing with your virtual peers, and the cost can vary widely from program to program. Some excellent, fully accredited online MBA programs can be had at http://www.degreego.com

You dont need a college degree to open a business. Contact the Small Business Administration, or SCORE or a local university business extension.. If you want to go to college the most useful for a business would be, marketing, business administration or management
2
Go to a community college and take business classes.

don't know the course, but you have to work in a business that you are willing to run in future.

You don't necessarily need to do any courses to become a business woman. If you run a business, you're a business woman.
2
In highschool, you should try to take some accounting courses and some marketing courses, as well as as many math courses as you can squeeze in. After that, you can get in to most colleges or universities, however, I recommend looking up a specific program you want and making sure you achieve the entrance requirements. Where in Canada are you? If you're in BC, I highly recommend going to BCIT for business, its an excellent school with very applicable courses and a lot of hands-on experience.

What business/engineering courses should I take
What business/engineering courses should I take?
I am going to be a freshman at UMass Dartmouth next year and I have some questions about what types of classes I should take because I have no idea whatsoever. I'm in the business school, so I'd major in some business thing. I'm really interested in doing something with cars, so I was thinking mechanical engineering. I just want to take the right classes in business and engineering so I can find decent jobs out of college. Thanks for any help.

If you are just a Freshman, you will likely be taking your general education classes - English, Science, Math, History, etc. Once you declare your major - your college will have a set curriculum of classes for you to take. BTW - I'm pretty sure mechanical engineering and business are in two unrelated departments. They both, however, offer good job prospects out of college.
2
Business and Engineering are two completely unrelated faculties, so you need to make up your mind real soon, or you'll be stuck in university longer than expected, because no courses in business or engineering coincide with each other, other than the general English and Math (if you're lucky - Business Math and Engineering Calculus are very different). Both degrees will take 4 years to complete, but I highly doubt you'll be able to do a double major in both, seeing as they are so different. So right now, you need to ask yourself which you're most interested in and pursue that. Both will provide you with a decent job/career after your graduate, seeing as they're both in demand

You can study anything. My BIL has his undergrad in Chemistry and just completed his MBA. He landed an awesome job with an awesome salary and just turned down a job offer for president at a company.
2
Absolutely. MBA programs prefer science students to commerce students. Stay with science and concentrate on getting good grades so that you can get into the best schools when the time comes. Look at the Official MBA Guide. It's a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, etc), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. Schools report their tuition cost, number of students, class sizes, program length, and a lot of other data. You can use the Guide to contact schools of your choice, examine their data, visit their web site, and send them pre applications. You can see lists of top 40 schools ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. It's the best service available at http://officialmbaguide.org.

Stanford is actually located in Northern California, and has much prestige to its name, as both their academics as well as their students are top-notch. Unless one has near-perfect grades/test scores and a great deal of extracurriculars (to prove that they are well-rounded), their chances are slim to none.
i was recently in southern california and i visited stanford and really liked it, i just wanted to know if this school is good for the area of business i want to go into, which is business and marketing

Can I deduct courses I take as a business expense
Can I deduct courses I take as a business expense?
I'm looking to take some computer courses in the fall to gain some additional experience in web design, which will hopefully make me more interesting to potential employers and/or expand my freelance capabilities. Is this something that I can write off as a business expense and is there a limit to how much I can spend on these courses?

No, sorry. Only classes required by your employer are deductible.
2
no, because the are not required for you to keep your job.
3
I think the previous answers are misguided. I'm not sure what it would be classified as on your schedule C if its your business. But on the 1040 personal return, you can deduct classes from an accredited college. There are some tax credits you might have available too, but be careful there, because there is a type of credit that you can only use twice.
4
If you aren't currently a web designer, no they aren't deductible. If you are, then maybe but not enough info to tell.
5
I would say that any courses you take to enhance your business skills are tax deductible (as professional education expense) if you are self employed. Any course that helps you maintain or gain increased knowledge in your career is tax deductible also as an employee, I believe. Check with your tax preparer and also ask about using the course expense as it relates to job search/marketability expense.
6
if you can itemize, yes you can deduct education expenses to improve your current employment but it is not a business expense if you are not operating a business, if you are, yes, the courses to improve your skills would be deductible
7
No. Yes, only if the courses are for improving your skill in your existing business.

What high school courses do I have to take to get into a good business University
What high school courses do I have to take to get into a good business University?
I'm in grade 10 and I want to be a business man when I'm older. My sister goes to school at Laurier and she says that it is a really good business school. What grade 11 and 12 courses do I need to become a business man?

Most colleges that have Business schools make you apply your sophomore or junior year and only consider your college grades. For now, just focus on the stuff that will get you into a general college program. From there, you can focus on getting into a business school. Good luck, I hope it works out!
2
Id take all the business/marketing classes your school offers. Also, AP Calculus and AP Statistics would be helpful. Perhaps an AP English class, and a few years of another language. Also AP economics if that is offered. Top that off with a computer class or two. With good grades and a good SAT score, you should have no trouble getting in to a good university

You might want to check out this: http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com/ They offer certifications as well as a certain promotion in their magazine and partner sites. Below is an excerpt from their website: "We have offered a home study training and professional certification program for wedding planners, wedding coordinators, and bridal consultants since 1954. The leading experts on weddings worldwide are trained by Weddings Beautiful. Business plans, etiquette, protocol, traditions, religious and military weddings are all covered in the training. You can earn the professional title, â€Å“Certified Wedding Specialistâ€, by completing the 18 assignments online or by workbook. Planning and coordinating weddings is perhaps the fastest growing professional service in the wedding industry as more and more brides are working, or attending college, and do not have the time required to coordinate the many details. The course was first offered in 1954 as a part of the National Bridal Service, America's first national association of bridal consultants and wedding related businesses. Our purpose is to provide professional training and recognition to individuals that have or desire to have a successful wedding planning and coordinating business. You can take the course online or by workbook. To enroll, click on Home Study Enrollment. Our members are also featured on www.NationalBridal.com and in full page ads in one or more of the national bridal magazines." Hope that helps, good luck in your business!

You have to remember specific cases and quote them.

Business law one aspect of business. There are many types, such as contract law, intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, etc. A business law in undergrad provides an overview of the important aspects. Law school goes into greater detail and you do not only study business law, but rather a broad range of legal concepts and applications.
3
It's not a business course. Business never enters into it. You learn substantive law. In most schools you don't even learn how to "practice" that law let alone how a law practice runs. Also, it give you access to far fewer job opportunites than business.

Here's a tip to figure out how hard your classes will be. Find out the name of your professor then go to www.ratemyprofessor.com There check out to see how other people rated the professor. If they say he/she is hard then i would switch to another class.

Umm, not sure if I understand what you are talking about exactly (sounds silly), but my advice is to go on ratemyprofessor.com and read reviews on the available teachers, many times you can tell from the reviews how the teachers teach, if they give a lot of homework or tests, or very few, etc.

Is taking "Economics" necessary to excel in business-related courses in university
Is taking "Economics" necessary to excel in business-related courses in university? I've been taking arts and science courses up until now, and I'll have to apply for university soon. I'm not sure what I want to do, but I'm considering studying Commerce at a Canadian university. I have no background knowledge on business at all. I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me some pointers or maybe give examples of anyone they know who hasn't taken Econ but has done well in university studying business/commerce. Thanks! Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 You will have to take econ at a university if you are going to be major in business so I recomend taking econ as soon as you can 2 I've been both a student and a professor in business programs in both the U.S. and Canada, and I've never heard of a program which didn't include economics as one of the requirements. You really do need to understand how economies work in order to understand business' role in those economies. However, few programs require prior knowledge; you generally take economics as part of your normal university requirements. |

No education is wasted. Some of the educated are useless though.
2
business-related courses prepare you for most jobs out there. it doesn't always mean you have to go into business.
3
If the Philippines is like the rest of the world, many managers (businesses as well as government) get an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree. Of course this means that you must already have a Bachelor's degree in some subject.

it is the person who makes it useless not the course. you don't need a business in order for you to be useful, it is how you apply all the knowledge that you have acquired.
5
yes, because the problem is we are over populated in the phils.some were given an opportunity to practice their profession but many don't. Go to abroad probably you can practice your education or profession there.when you got a lot of savings then go back to phils and start your own bussiness. education is not useless instead thats the key to success as long as you use it in a nice way.
6
Of course not. I have a bachelor's degree in management (entrepreneurial) and I took several courses in marketing, finance, accounting, operations, etc. These aren't useless aren't they? A degree as such helps you prepare for most corporate jobs available. A management degree not only helps you when you have your own business, it also is essential when you work for the businesses of others (employee). Are business-related courses hard? I'd say it depends on the school. I studied in Ateneo de Manila so it sure wasn't a cakewalk. Some of the math-related subjects I took were accounting, finance, statistic, economics, etc. etc. This degree will give you numerous options, employment-wise.
7
No. You can still end up working in a corporate setting. They actually teach you both and its up to you to decide where to go after. But if you have a family business (like a lot of fil-chis) it's better to take of Entrep related courses. I took up Business mgt in dlsu years ago. It is tough since you also have to study finance, accounting and yes a lot of math subjects (quantitative techniques, production mgt, economics). it doesn;t end there; we still took up subjects in law and human resource, important to any business If you plan to start your own business, an entrep degree is the one for you. If you take it and decide to go corporate, no biggie. My former classmates in entrep went corporate and are now working for banks, mlc's and other corporations. I ended up with the family business

apply to the school (you can usually do this online at their website) apply for financial aid at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ take whatever placement tests the school requires go to a new student orientation if your school requires it register for classes check with the school of your choice to see if they offer online classes and what classes you want to get the degree of your choice... a lot of community colleges and universities now offer a lot of their classes online...

Will I be able to take business courses at the city college
Will I be able to take business courses at the city college?
I am 15 years old and I was wondering if I could take a music business class over the summer or not. Could I take any of the other classes related to that? (I am aware that I will have to pay, and that I will not get any credits). But if I am able to take classes would this help me in the future? as far as advancing my career as a music supervisor.

Many colleges and junior colleges will require a diploma or a ged in order to enroll. Also for some courses, you may need to have an SAT or ACT score, though some schools may have a PSAT you can take during open enrollment that can qualify you for that semester. Some highschools and colleges have dual credit agreements for certain courses, so you may be able to get credit for HS and for college. If you take a college course, you'd get credit unless you do an "audit". You'd only want to audit a course if you didn't think you could pass it or otherwise didn't want the chance of gaining credit for it. You can go to the admissions office and they will have course lists, schedules, enrollment requirements, etc. If you need an exception to age rules, you may need to speak with the dean of admissions. If you're seriously considering this, then you need to act now. Enrollment for Summer I mini-mester probably has already begun, and it may take a little bit of time to figure out exactly what course you want to take, and what it's requirements are.

A business course is a great option, but an even better one I think is something more practical and hands on. Check out www.buildabusinessworkshop.com Hands down I think this is the best option for entrepreneurs needing immediate results as far as business planning, development, marketing, management and actual resources.

You can major in music business. There are a lot of colleges that have great programs. Columbia in chicago is where I'm looking at right now, since i want to go into school for music business also. NYU has an amazing program that you should look into if your really serious, but you need hella good grades. One thing you should really consider when picking a college, is what type of business you want to do. There are tons. Audio Engineering, production, management. There as a looong list of music business jobs.
2
Although there are many other fine music business schools, the two top schools are Berklee College of Music and the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business at Belmont University. Both schools have websites. For more information about the music business, visit www.EZRecordDeal.com.

Data management combinations questions!!! I love them. A. 3C2 x 7C2 = 63 B. 11C4 - 7C4 = 295 all selections minus "all four course from science" will give you "at least one business course" I hope it helps! If it's wrong, I don't know why I'm doing so well in that class.

Do I receive undergrad credits if I take some Business/Management courses at UCLA Extension
Do I receive undergrad credits if I take some Business/Management courses at UCLA Extension?
Hi. I'm planning to take some Business/Management courses at UCLA Extension in order to meet CPA exam requirements. I need about 14 semester units (21 quarter units). I want to know if UCLA extension courses are hard. Also, I want to know if the courses I will take at UCLA Extension can be used as undergraduate credits by Graduate school admissions (master's degree in accounting). thank you.

It depends. Some of the courses are listed for degree credit at UCLA Extension, some are not. When you go to the UCLA Extension website, pull down the first drop-down box entitled "Learning Quicklinks" and select the link for "Degree Credit Students." From there, a page will open that includes, in the first paragraph, a link "for a list of courses for undergraduate credit." Click on the link and a list of all undergraduate courses will appear. It looks like a lot of accounting courses are listed for undergraduate credit, under the subject Management (abbreviated by UCLA as MGMNT). As far as the credits being recognized, well, UCLA Extension credits are still UCLA credits. And UCLA is definitely recognized. Basically, graduate schools should readily accept these credits. I've taken UCLA Extension courses in the past, and I really enjoyed them. I didn't think they were too hard, but they were a time commitment. I learned a lot, though.

What are the most useful college courses for any business
What are the most useful college courses for any business?
I am a college freshman and am trying to decide what courses to take/what to major in. I do not want to transfer into the business school because I believe in receiving a liberal arts degree and I prefer to learn life-long skills such as critical thinking that can be applied to any job rather than specialize in business. What courses or majors would you recommend that would benefit me in a multitude of fields? What kind of classes do business hirers want from an employer?

The most useful general courses are English composition, accounting, and American history, which usually teaches critical thinking skills. You need to select a career specialty such as a science, for example. Or you need to major in business and take enough liberal arts classes as electives so that you can receive a liberal arts education as well. It is very possible to do both simultaneously. You were very intelligent to ask this question. Unfortunately, graduating with a liberal arts degree is a likely path to the unemployment line unless you plan to go on to law school or another professional school, including those for the health care professions. Law and medical schools accept students with any academic major. Medical schools post on their websites lists of pre-med classes which must be completed. Law schools have no specific course requirements for admission.

My sister took many finance and marketing courses on her way to a business degree at a liberal arts college where every student was required to fulfill a basic liberal arts curriculum. She did not care for the liberal arts at all, but she mastered the subject matter well enough. She really didn't utilize her critical thinking skills until she moved to NYC and began working for IBM. Living on your own in New York with actual job responsibilities and a boss who could fire you for not meeting your sales targets and/or who could hold you back from better opportunities in the company for failing to contribute new ideas for business development, tends to bring out the best in a person including his or her critical thinking skills. I now think that the two high school courses I took in Art History with a fussbudget Harvard-educated Brahmin who had a pronounced cultural superiority complex was the best thing that ever happened to me in terms of critical thinking skills. I didn't realize it for the longest time, but that's where I was first compelled to offer critical judgments and articulate them and defend them or get flunked. That's a universally valuable experience in my opinion. Take care.
3
I do agree with your desire to get a liberal arts degree. However, what that means is that you're seeking a degree that is based on developing your critical thinking and problem solving skills rather than your practical skills. So it isn't really appropriate to ask what courses or majors would help you in business. There is no real answer. Any business who understand the value of liberal arts simply wants you to be well-rounded, and want you to be able to evaluate choices intelligently and develop solutions, thinking independently. The original ideal of liberal arts colleges was to teach those skills that are uniformly necessary for living in a free society. Hopefully, every major in the liberal arts would teach that. Unfortunately, in today's world, that's not entirely true. Many liberal arts curriculums have become nothing but teaching of random facts or sometimes worse, just teaching students to mimic the professors' opinions. I'll suggest some majors that typically do offer you good thinking skill development. You can decide for yourself if any of these majors are for you: philosophy, economics, chemistry, physics, and music theory. You might also do well in a foreign language, or in linguistics generally, if you have skill in that area. Beyond that most important skill set that is hard for employers to evaluate effectively, they also want a few other things that you can take through a series of individual elective courses. First, they want quantitative skills: math, accounting, finance, statistics. Second they want communication skills: Public speaking, drama, composition, creative writing, journalism, languages. Third, they want an understanding of how they operate and the world they operate in: economics, marketing, psychology, management, sociology, political science, law. If you can put all that together, you'll be widely desired in the business world, and there's absolutely no reason why you would need to major in business (though taking one or two business classes at some point would probably be helpful). In fact, I think many businesses would prefer this well-rounded approach if you do it right.

get in touch with the small business association. it also depends on the type of business. check with your states chamber of commerce to see what you need for that type of business.
2
I'd check with your local Community College. You might also check with your local government, including your Chamber of Commerce. In Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency has small business seminars to teach business owners about the requirements from a tax perspective.

Why don't universities include business education courses when calculating a high school student's GPA
Why don't universities include business education courses when calculating a high school student's GPA?
I teach high school business courses and I don't understand why colleges and universities don't include the grades students earn in my classes when calculating a GPA. My classes are not blow-off and are very academic in nature. It is frustrating for students who want to go into business and discover that the courses in the Business Education department (i.e., accounting, personal finance, computer applications, international business) are disregarded by the universities. Some universities even tell students that they won't accept a letter of recommendation from a business teacher! If business courses are considered important at the college level, why are they disregarded as being unimportant at the high school level?

If you are asking what type of classes are good for your future career, then the following are important for business: Economics, Computer Apps/Keyboarding. For law school, you may want to practice by taking government classes and learn more about the constitution. In addition, for some reason, history is always important for law school (I do not know why, but this is what some teachers say).

Yes you can.

If you will received business courses by email or purchase, its will be expenses for business to spread and manage to business, So It will be deducted from business income. and your profit will come down & your payable IT will be down.
3
Only if they improve or maintain your current skills. If they qualify you for a degree or new occupation then no you can't

G'day, Hmmm... all of them are offered in most Australian universities. FYI, all universities have the same and equal reputation in regards to the quality of the teaching material & support. The universities in Australia are required to have a good quality courses before able to offer it to overseas students. Most of them combined the theoretical and practical approach to the education method to make it as 'real' as possible. The graduates will have the same chance of getting a job. What most important thing that the employers looking at is your results on the university transcript. That, combined with a good English communication skill (especially in your area of employment) are crucial in securing a spot in the interview. Therefore only difference that you may want to compare is the school fee and cost of living I suppose. However, you may want to check and read the course guide properly, since eventhough the name of the courses are the same, different universities may have different structures or contents that one may be more suitable for you than the other such as possibilities to combine subjects from different faculty (like language or computing for example) as part of your degree study OR the ability to combine some majors into one degree program without the need to extend your study period (eg. Bachelor of Business in International Trade and Microeconomics majors) My suggestion is: if there are any big Australian Education exhibitions visit them and speak with the representative from each uni so you get the feeling of the uni itself. It may also be a good idea to ask them as well if they know of any graduates that you can speak to. If you have some time & a little extra money, come and visit the cities so you can have a feeling as well whether or not you are going to like living there for the next 3 or 4 years during your study. I am enclosing the website of IDP Education Australia and you may be able to find out when will they have an exhibition in your country. IDP is an organisation that helps overseas student for information to study in Australia. Hope this helps. Good luck and welcome to Australia.

Business core courses no matter if its acntng, management, international bus they all have to take these courses and are usually but not limited to, business, micro and macro economics and accounting. I suggest you start with Business so you wont go into the hard stuff lke accounting at first. Very interesting field I love it.

To be a corporate lawyer do I need to take business courses in University?
Everyone is telling me that it doesn't matter what you major in to become a lawyer. But I just keep thinking, if a corporate lawyer is involved in business related issues, wouldn't I need to take some business courses to get an idea of what its like?

People are telling you wrong. Especially if you want to specialize in corporate law. You will do well to take business courses, and accounting courses. An understanding of business management and accounting are invaluable to an attorney practicing business law. Also study as much about contracts and regulatory agencies as you can. Doc

If you are looking to teach college you really don't need to get a teaching certificate. The more credentials you have in your field, the more likely you are to be hired. A PhD is almost a sure in for being hired at a university. I have a few professors who don't have teaching certificates. One professor was an archaeologist and they brought her in to teach in her field. There is a method called "publish or perish" that works as well. It's the constant struggle to get published works. It's very important in college and later on. The more published works, the better your credentials. So, as long as you have the credit, good grades, high GPA, sharp writing skills, and the commitment to more time into something, you're all set for being a professor. Check up some research on your own. Google is an amazing tool! Another was a criminal justice course and he was originally a lawyer. I'll find you some sources. Good luck!

your phd only since college is exacting.

You would be most qualified for teaching in the education college and specifically methods of business education. However, you would have sufficient core business education to teach general business courses and anything else you had 18 graduate hours of classwork in. Most of the positions I see posted in business colleges are looking for a specialist PhD and not someone for general business. This would be the marketing, economics, finance, accounting, etc. specialists. Take a look at the Chronicle of Higher Education job listings and see what different positions are asking for in teaching candidates. http://chronicle.com/search/jobs/

What business and system analysis courses should I take?
Hi, I have a bachlor degree in Business Information Technology which is a technical major (programming). According to where I live, it is a business environment where the programmer can barely find a good job opportunity. So, I am thinking of taking some courses in business and system analysis. However, I don't have a clear picture about the courses. (I am moving to business side) not trying to get a technical offer
